Brian – what an incredibly important post. Thank you for providing a rational outline for managing this circus. i am genuinely saddened when looking at what constitutes the current policy debates. People may alter or add a criteria or question, but the idea that we need to apply real rigor to this process is unfortunately a rare one indeed.

Thanks, Nicolle. Unfortunately, the mainstream media really revel in covering the circus, rather than the substance. And, of course, we voters tend to attach disproportionate weight to debate performances when the reality is that most of the President’s job is setting strategy, tracking implementation, and making decisions based on options and recommendations provided by staff. And no one tells the President he only gets 60 seconds to formulate and express his views. Lastly, the members of the Generation X+ community tend to ignore their own generational self-interest when they express their voting preferences, which is a trend we need to break. So I hope I can offer a counter-balance to all this via my Posts early next year.
